I am very proud and privileged to be the new Chairperson of the HCUK. I would like to express my gratitude to my colleague Trustees and HCUK members for showing confidence in me. I will take my duties and responsibilities very seriously in the service of all our Member organisations and Hindus especially in the United Kingdom. My special thanks to our departing Chairperson Dr. VP Narayan Rao ji for his blessings, guidance, leadership and continued support.
As for my background, I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors in London. I have excellent leadership, management, problem-solving and communication skills. I have the benefit of well over 34 year career in the Central and Local Government in England. Until recently, I was an Audit Manager in the office of Mayor of London Policing and Crime, where I managed reviews within the Metropolitan Police Service. My report on Gifts and Hospitality has been cited in the Lord Leveson’s Inquiry into the culture, practices and ethics of the British press. I am also the longest serving member of the Metropolitan Police Hindu Association (currently their Deputy Chairperson) and have been actively reviewing and protecting Hindu Police officers, members of Staff and community interests and securing fair and just resolutions. I have taken the lead and empowered many people to challenge unfairness and pursue progression and rewards. I have actively empowered women through mentoring, encouragement and support. We will thrive and succeed further when we ensure; equality of opportunity, fairness and also that women are well represented up to the highest level. In September 2013, I was shortlisted for Asian Achievers Awards under Uniformed and Civil Services category.
As you might be aware, the Hindu Council UK was launched on 27th November 1994 in Harrow. More than a thousand people attended the launch and the occasion was blessed by many spiritual leaders. Most Hindus believe that a national body is very important and agree that the HINDU COUNCIL UK as a ‘National umbrella body of Hindu organisations in the United Kingdom’ is one of the best solutions to address Hindu issues and concerns.
You are our eyes and ears and we look forward to hearing from you at regular intervals, working very closely and serving you to the best of our ability. You are welcome to contact me on 07956 655 792 or our General Secretary Shri Rajnish Kashyap on 07903 216 291.
